What Are Wisdom Teeth?
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last set of adult teeth to develop and typically emerge in the late teens or early twenties. While some people have no issues with their wisdom teeth, they often become impacted, misaligned, or crowded due to limited space in the jaw. At Southeastern Oral Surgery and Dental Implants, our team evaluates the development of wisdom teeth and recommends removal when necessary to prevent pain, infection, damage to surrounding teeth, and other oral health complications. To learn if your wisdom teeth need to be extracted, schedule an appointment at Southeastern Oral Surgery.
How Are Wisdom Teeth Removed?
Wisdom tooth extraction is a common oral surgery procedure typically performed under local anesthesia, IV sedation, or general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort. One of our oral surgeons will begin by making a small incision in the gum to access the tooth, and if necessary, remove surrounding bone or section the tooth into smaller pieces for easier removal. Once the wisdom tooth extraction is complete, the area is cleaned and sutured to promote healing. Most procedures are completed in under an hour, and patients receive detailed wisdom tooth removal recovery instructions to manage swelling, discomfort, and support a smooth recovery.
What Are the Benefits of Wisdom Tooth Removal?

- Eliminates pain from impacted teeth
- Protects adjacent teeth from damage
- Lowers risk of cysts or jaw issues

Wisdom Tooth Extractions Reviews
Had my wisdom teeth as well as tooth 1&18 removed by Dr.Falconer yesterday. It went amazing only took about an hour, as of today i’m not feeling much pain so that’s awesome. Overall an amazing experience. PS. the nurses are also great they eased all of my anxiety, i’m very prone to fainting with needles and that didn’t happen for what might actually be the first time in my life . 10/10 experience would go back no doubt.
Top tier! I was scared to have a wisdom tooth extracted so I could get a bridge put in. Very sweet nurses made me feel so much better and the dentist/oral surgeon was very understanding and professional. Definitely recommend. One minute I was talking to the nurse and the next I was getting in the car lol!
We used them for our 17 year old to have her wisdom teeth extracted. The price was reasonable after insurance $868. They saw her in less than a week after we called. Appointment was for 1:30 and we were driving out of the parking lot at 3:30. They explained everything about the procedure and the aftercare to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend them for anyone work you may need done.
I got all four wisdom teeth removed in about 15 minutes. I had never had any surgery before and was nervous about being put under but Dr. Evans and the two ladies made me feel very comfortable.
I just had my procedure 2 hours ago ! but Dr. Faulkner and his team have always taken such good care of me. He reconstructed my jaw years ago and took out my wisdom teeth, and he was the sweetest doctor through it all. His staff is just as amazing Ms. Kim I think that was her name please forgive me if I’m wrong and the lady who helped get me settled before my procedure were so gentle and reassuring. My anxiety was calm, and the warm blanket they gave me meant more than they know. Thank you to the front desk and everyone in the office. You all truly make a difference. . ❤️

Are You a Candidate?
Commonly, third molar removals are done for individuals between 17 and 25. Not everyone's wisdom teeth will conclusively necessitate removal; however, keeping painful wisdom teeth in the mouth might lead to unnecessary oral issues in the future. Dr. Falconer will often offer wisdom teeth extraction for people who experience:
- Improper surface area for complete wisdom tooth eruption
- Totally or semi-impacted wisdom teeth within the gumline or jaw
- Damage to the wisdom teeth or people who struggle with making sure the wisdom teeth are bacteria-free
- The formation of a lump in the neck
- Periodontal redness (pericoronitis), cheek puffiness, or jaw pain
- Crooked teeth
