Oral Pathology Exam in Dothan, AL

Oral pathology is the branch of dentistry focused on identifying and diagnosing abnormal changes in the tissues of the mouth, such as lesions, cysts, lumps, or discoloration. These conditions are often benign but may require evaluation to rule out underlying issues and ensure proper treatment. At Southeastern Oral Surgery and Dental Implants, our team offers oral pathology evaluations, including oral cancer screenings, to help detect and manage these concerns early. Prompt diagnosis plays a key role in maintaining long-term oral health and preventing potential complications. To learn more about oral pathology and how we can help you maintain your oral health, contact Southeastern Oral Surgery to schedule a consultation.

An oral pathology exam begins with a detailed review of your medical and dental history, followed by a thorough visual and physical examination of the mouth, including the lips, gums, cheeks, tongue, palate, and jaw. One of our oral surgeons will look for any abnormal tissue changes, such as lumps, ulcers, discoloration, or persistent sores. If an area of concern is identified, additional diagnostic tools, such as imaging or a biopsy, may be used to determine the nature of the issue. The goal of the exam is to detect, diagnose, and monitor any unusual conditions to ensure appropriate treatment and protect long-term oral health.

Oral pathology provides critical benefits by detecting abnormal conditions early and guiding appropriate treatment to maintain oral health. Additional benefits include:

  • Identifies unusual tissue changes early
  • Helps diagnose benign growths or lesions
  • Guides timely and accurate treatment
  • Prevents progression of oral conditions
  • Monitors ongoing oral health concerns
  • Reduces risk of complications
  • Supports overall dental and systemic health
  • Provides peace of mind with expert evaluation
  • Helps protect surrounding teeth and tissues
  • Enhances long-term oral wellness

5th time is the charm apparently. Was finally able to have my broken tooth removed. Highly recommended if you need oral surgery. Very pleased with the experience. Little to no pain and very swift. Didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want. Simple tooth extraction. As a Veteran on a referral i was treated very well here.

Dr Evans and his staff are consummate professionals who endeavor to provide the best care and services to their patients. They are friendly, communicative and work together as an effective, unified team. My wife (RN) and I (RRT) are retired healthcare professionals and recognize excellent healthcare providers when we encounter them.

Went here for my wisdom teeth removal. Very friendly people all of the nurses and the doctor doing the surgery explained everything simply for me to understand. Gave clear instructions for after surgery care, and didn't get offended when they were trying to get me out of the wheel chair and into the car. (Apparently I didn't want to listen to them after coming out of the anesthesia)
