Impacted Teeth in Dothan, AL

Impacted teeth are teeth that fail to fully emerge through the gums, often due to lack of space, obstruction by other teeth, or improper alignment. This condition commonly affects wisdom teeth but can also involve canines and other permanent teeth. At Southeastern Oral Surgery and Dental Implants, impacted teeth are carefully evaluated and treated to prevent complications such as pain, infection, damage to nearby teeth, and misalignment. Early diagnosis and treatment can help protect overall oral health and ensure proper tooth development and function. To learn more about treating impacted teeth, contact Southeastern Oral Surgery to schedule a consultation.

Impacted teeth are typically treated through a surgical procedure that involves removing or exposing the affected tooth, depending on its position and the patient's overall dental needs. Treatment begins with a thorough evaluation, including dental imaging, to determine the exact location and severity of the impaction. If the tooth is causing pain, infection, or poses a risk to surrounding teeth, surgical extraction may be recommended. In some cases, such as impacted canines, exposure and bonding may be performed to help guide the tooth into its proper position. Treatment is tailored to each individual to relieve discomfort, prevent complications, and support long-term oral health.

Treating impacted teeth offers important benefits that help protect your oral health, comfort, and alignment, including:

  • Relieves pain and pressure
  • Prevents infection and gum inflammation
  • Protects nearby teeth from damage
  • Reduces risk of cysts or tumors
  • Preserves proper tooth alignment
  • Improves bite and jaw function
  • Supports successful orthodontic treatment
  • Prevents overcrowding and shifting
  • Enhances long-term oral health
  • Promotes easier chewing and speaking

Didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want. Simple tooth extraction. As a Veteran on a referral i was treated very well here.

Went here for my wisdom teeth removal. Very friendly people all of the nurses and the doctor doing the surgery explained everything simply for me to understand. Gave clear instructions for after surgery care, and didn't get offended when they were trying to get me out of the wheel chair and into the car. (Apparently I didn't want to listen to them after coming out of the anesthesia)

A member of our office will provide you with follow-up instructions to follow after the tooth impaction treatment is done. You will want someone else to drive you if you receive some types of sedation for the procedure. Pain medications or cold compresses to the jaw may be needed to relieve inflammation, discomfort, or additional symptoms as you recover. Our team can additionally provide tips on how to care for your teeth and gums as your tooth recuperates, like staying away from chewing tobacco, smoking, and using a straw following tooth extractions. Our team will work with you to schedule a subsequent visit at our Dothan, AL location so Dr. Falconer can see that the mouth is healing as expected.
